The Wild Issue

Wild women are one of the most enduring tropes in literature and history. From the women who were accused of witchcraft in the 16th century to literary anti-heroines like Bertha Mason in “Wide Sargasso Sea,” women who act in unconventional ways threaten the status quo in deep and impactful ways. We decided to explore this theme by seeking out stories of women who are living bold, adventurous lives. In the process, we uncovered amazing stories of struggle, courage, and confidence. Taken together, we also discovered that being “wild” can mean very different things for different women.
